Samsung unveiled, at CES 2020 in Las Vegas, the T7 Touch, a new external portable SSD drive with a built-in fingerprint reader to secure your data.
A highly secure portable SSD drive
With Samsung’s brand-new drive, there’s no more need to worry about the security of your data. (or almost 🙂 you can still have a mishap, but no worries, Chronodisk is here to help you recover it ! Indeed, this powerhouse is equipped with a fingerprint reader, as well as a 256-bit AES hardware encryption system with password protection to better secure your precious data.
Roderick Niehorster, Product Manager, Memory Business at Samsung Benelux, states that « People who are constantly on the move for their work, leisure or other projects want to carry their content with them in complete safety. Their data is now secured thanks to the external SSD’s fingerprint recognition feature, which also delivers the best transfer rates in the industry in a compact form ».
Only the owner of the T7 Touch will be able to quickly unlock their SSD with a simple press of the finger. A « Motion LED » light indicator will help you tell at a glance whether the drive is locked or unlocked. Although this SSD is equipped with a biometric security option, it is able to store up to four different fingerprints. A handy feature for sharing the drive with family or work colleagues.
Outstanding technical performance
The latest addition to the T-series portable SSD lineup and successor to the T5, the T7 offers a faster read speed as well as greater storage space. The T7 Touch will be available in black or silver with storage capacities of 500 Go, 1To and 2 To to meet all usage needs. With a write speed (thanks to the second-generation USB 3.2 connector for 10Gbps connectivity), of up to 1 Go/s, and a read speed of 1,05 Go/s announced by Samsung, the T7 is 2 times faster than its predecessor the T5. It is even nearly ten times faster than a standard external hard drive, which will delight the most impatient users. Who hasn’t grumbled more than once while waiting for a data transfer that never seems to want to end !
In addition to this technical performance, the T7 Touch SSD is available in an elegant aluminum casing, black or silver. With its size of 85 x 57 x 8.0 mm and its weight of 58g it fits in the palm of your hand, and can easily slip into a jacket or trouser pocket. And to top it off it is of unmatched durability, according to Samsung, it can withstand a two-meter drop! It is therefore no surprise that the innovative spirit of the Samsung T7 Touch was recognized at the CES 2020 Innovation Awards.

And to top it off, the new Samsung Portable SSD T7 Touch will be available from February at your favorite retailers, just one more week to wait ! Compatible with Windows, Mac and Android operating systems, it is announced at recommended prices of 169,99 € for the 500 Go version, 249,99 for the 1 To and 459,99 € for the 2 To model. Backed by a 3-year warranty, it will ship with a USB Type-C to Type-C cable and a USB Type-C to Type-A cable for more efficient connectivity.
Please note that a version without the fingerprint reader is also planned for May.
