The only way to support such a surface density is the careful, deliberate design of a head placement system. It must be able to precisely position the hard drive’s read/write heads in the correct position.
It should be noted that the slightest deviation in head positioning can lead to hard drive malfunction. It can also cause accidental damage, such as scratches on the platters. The hard drive can then suffer permanent damage.
Acoustic attacks
The intentional production of an acoustic signal is capable of causing unwanted acoustic resonance in the hard drive’s internal components. This resonance can lead to the failure of the entire system that depends on the hard drive.
For example, this can completely paralyze the operating system, forcing the system to restart; in the worst case, a format may be required.
And since no one is safe from this kind of attack, this is the reason why you should always make backups.

An acoustic signal can be emitted using an independent speaker or exploited remotely by the attacker.
Thus, software can be used for remote control purposes (for example, to take control of a laptop’s multimedia software).
This would make it possible to deceive the user, to play a malicious sound, attached to an email, sometimes to a web page.
In some cases, the malicious sound is embedded in a very widespread multimedia medium, such as an advertisement, or perhaps even in a contaminated USB flash drive that you have inserted into your computer’s USB ports.
But do not worry, the chances that acoustic attacks on hard drives would be used for the purpose of mass exploitation of devices are very low. Such a scenario would not be realistic due to the many obstacles the attacker must overcome.
